The History of Patapsco Council, No 1960

The following is the history of Patapsco Council, No 1960, as published by John K. Stumpf, Jr., on the 20th anniversary of the founding of the council.

The history of Patapsco Council was originally written in April, 1926, by Past Grand Knight Lealon B. Wright "with the hope that the work of those who blazed the trail in the days when our Council was in the making will be known to all of us who have followed them."

The first history was published in a series of articles in our monthly publication, The Patapsco Knight. It contained all of the data concerning the Council up to that time. Brother Wright paid a glowing tribute to the later Brothers Henry Judik and J. Henry Schafer for their untiring work in personally signing up enough members so that the charter could be granted and the New Council installed. He dedicated the first history to these two zealous knights.

The second edition was compiled by Brother John K. Stumpf, Jr., and appeared in our Fifteenth Anniversary Program in June, 1934.

This, the Third Edition, commemorating the Twentieth Anniversary of Patapsco, is respectfully dedicated to Brother Wright, who, by his initial prodigious work on the history, gave us the foundation upon which these and subsequent editions may be built.
